Fantastic service, atmosphere, service And the food was a great experience. Seafood soup so good and full of seafood. It was my daughter's 30th birthday and they cave us a complimentary drink. Desert was off the charts too. Com and enjoy you will not be sorry!!

There's something for everyone! Very good examples of classic Venetian cuisine and horrible tourist food for Americans! Win!
Back story: arriving late into Venezia by train, bouncing around on a water taxi, trying not to fall in the canal, no dinner planned. Asked the hotel front desk where to go. Lots of Italian, something about good and not so good, nero, seppia, non lasagna. Three minute walk. Sold!
A charming eatery located along one of the major "tourist" walkways enroute to Rialto. Part bar serving cicchetti, part restaurant.
Straight up, stick to classic Venetian dishes. They are made very well.
*Note: This rating is based strictly on the Venetian dishes. My party's lapse in judgment is not the restaurant's fault.
Very good fritto misto. Squid, seppia, shrimp, mussels, langoustine, sardines, and some veg, all dipped in a thin batter and deep fried. Seafood added at different times to be sure they are all properly cooked when plated. Freshness evident.
The nero di seppia is very good. One of the classic dishes of Venezia, sepia stewed in its own ink. Incredibly tender, pronounced briny flavor with citrusy notes on the finish. Melting caramelized onions add a pleasing sulfurous taste and good sweetness.
Tourist dishes are a disaster. Mushy cheese filled ravioli in a tomato based sauce, covered with more cheese and an equally mushy lasagna with a bizarre, sweet "red sauce". No, no, 1000 times no. If it's not part of the Venetian culinary scene, DON'T ORDER IT.
Friendly service. English menus. Fluent English.
Decent wine list. Good emphasis on wines of the Veneto. Inexpensive.
Never forget, you are in Venezia to experience the culture. Go all in or don't go at all. You will be rewarded. -

Our hotel recommended La Rosa Rossa as a quick and easy place to grab a nice meal.
The food and ambiance here is good. Venice is not the culinary experience you'd find in say Tuscany, Umbria, Milan or Rome.
Never the less the pizzas here were good. Great crust, cheeses, and toppings. Their pastas highlight the local seafood of the Adriatic.
The husband and wife that run it are pleasant but don't piss them off. People seated next to us sat down and decided not to stay so they left a little bit of a mess. The wife started to scream those are "shit people"..."shit people"....okay lets fold our napkins and keep our table neat....gulp!
Prices are very reasonable. Cute ambiance of exposed brick.
They have some nice wines by the 1/4 liter 1/2 and whole.
Plenty of local families dine here so that says a lot.
Big menu to satisfy everyone.
Service is a tad slow...but it's Italy and that's to be expected.
Desserts were meh and I would pass! -

Brilliant pizza, great salad and olives, all started off with a great glass of 2014 Zonta Merlot. Overall, we enjoyed a great meal, even if the experience left us wondering why they hated us. First they tried to chase us away by saying the wait was over 90 minutes, then told the next couple that came in it was 15 - but we were all seated within 10. It took forever to get to order, then took ten forevers to get the bill. At no point did anyone check if we needed anything. However, the food was so brilliant that we went back twice on our next trip and had much better service -- even though we still had to work hard to convince them to let us sit in the back Johnny Depp tribute room off the alley. Go here to for the food, but make sure you've made a reservation, and be extra patient with the staff. After all, they spend each day being run off their feet by us demanding tourists!

Wow! We came here after the first few places we tried to go to were closed on a Sunday at 5:30, and boy are we glad we did!
We started with mussels and caprese, and both were excellent.
My fiancée had spicy squid fettuccine, which she liked, but the masterpiece had to be the chef's lasagne, which I had. Delicioso!
It had to be one of the best, if not the best, lasagne I've ever had. We both agreed it was amazing.
The service and atmosphere were also top notch. They played a lot of American oldies music, which we enjoyed.
If you're ever in Venice, you have to try Rosa Rossa, especially the chef's lasagne! Unbelievable!
